Finishing a quilt with turned and stiched binding.

This technique uses the top and backing fabrics as a binding. For this method the quilting cannot be taken to the edge as the wadding is trimmed to allow seam allowance on each of the top and backing fabrics for turning over.

  • Trim the wadding and turn over the seam allowance on the top and backing fabrics.
  • Press and pin the two fabrics together
  • Stitch either by hand with 2 rows of running stitch or use a decorative stitch.
  • At the corners fold top seam one way and the bottom seam the other and match up with stitching.
